Along the eastern side of the valley visitors can stroll the Beacons Way path which twists and turns much of the local area. Trails along the lower section of the valley take walkers along Old Roman paths and across their ancient settlements. Only recently it was discovered an old settlement lay 1.5 kilometres from Cwmdu. With each step around the area you will feel an immense sense of history. Many of the lower valley paths lead walkers down the valley towards to the River Usk routinely used by Roman settlers to transport goods during the Roman era.

The original property – Efail- Isaf – translates as “Old Smithy”, and the holiday let’s have drawn strongly from this rich heritage. The property was a working smithy until the 20th century and the house has been sympathetically restored since that time.
